Maria joined Mulago in 2016 to run the Rainer Arnhold Fellows Program. She came to Mulago from Children International, a humanitarian organisation, where she designed and launched their first Bay Area Chapter and helped to build a robust donor base.
Prior to Children International, Maria was a Research Associate at MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) in Chile, managing a field team of 15 and doing complex data collection in rural settings.
She has development experience in five countries. Maria received her BA in Political Science from Chapman University, and her MA in Conflict Resolution from American University.
And in her previous life, Maria was a ballet dancer.
